Platinum Buy one get one free - Int'l C class
Been a Platinum card holder for over a year - Got the card specifically for the International Business Class buy one get one free program - and the NW/CO/TW lounge access. I finally attempted to use the Buy One Get One Free - Had my travel agent contact the Platinum Travel people and presto - Got the Continental Business First seats for the dates I wanted - really VERY painless and quite satisfying - a free Business First ticket for my wife. kazman

Kazman, could you please tell us what other lounges you are invited to and what major airlines also will give a free ticket in "F" or "C" if one is purchased. Will this always be a companion ticket or an additional ticket for another flight. I've just been invited by amex to join Platinum, but they don't specify all the amenties.

I too found it easy to use my Canadian Platinum card's companion ticket. In Canada, the offer differs though. It is only good on CP, but can be on ANY fare...no restrictions. I'm using it for the PIP in November.
Access to lounges for Canadian holders are officially CP Empress/AA Admirals and unoficially CO/NW/TWA for travel in the US. |

Some of the 2-for-1 business class deals can be seen on the Amex http://www.departures.com site. Canadian Platinum Card holders, your first six digit may not work, try "371387" and any name you want.
FYI Canadian Amex holders (Any colour), the same deal applies on Cathay Pacific. See http://www.cathay.ca/promo/caamex/default.stm [This message has been edited by hsi.chang (edited 09-08-1999).] |
Can someone tell me which business class fares qualify for these free companion tickets (i.e.FULL fare "J" class only or also discounted "D" class fares)?

It is for FULL fare only.
