New Rewards Manager Service

"RewardsManager from American Express keeps track of your frequent travel and rewards programs, including your Membership RewardsŪ* program point balances. Rewarding yourself has never been easier.

What can RewardsManager do for you?

Organize your frequent travel and rewards program balances in a single report

Alert you if program points are due to expire

Highlight recent flights and seek out missing credits

Suggest travel rewards based on your travel profile

* There is a $25 annual program fee for Membership Rewards. Some Corporate Cards and some OptimaŪ Cards are not eligible for enrollment. Terms and fees for Corporate Cards may vary."

https://www.rewardsmanager.com

I signed up and the first message upgraded me to a year's free membership. So far, it looks like a very good service.

AmEx is really getting this service from MaxMiles MileageMiner. With their promotion, you get only a 6 months free - then it is $15/year or 3000 membership rewards points.

You can get the same exact thing FREE for the whole first year if you go through a promotion that Microsoft Expedia is running. To continue FREE after the 1st year, you just have to buy 3 tickets through Expedia (IMHO which is a great service), or pay $10/year (still cheaper than above)

You must go through this link, if you go directly, it is not nearly as good a deal.

With all the recent talk of MR raising fees and rumors of charging $$$ for transferring miles, I get the impression that AMEX is in the business of ripping people off.

5 months till my RewardsPlus runs out and it's good bye AMEX.

I think MileageMiner (or whatever it is called) has gotten some bad press elsewhere on FlyerTalk. With mileage expiration going away for most programs, notification is not worth anything. The only thing that may be worthwhile is the bit about missing mileage credits. If this means AMEX will handle all the leg work involved in calling airlines numerous times to get credits, then the $25 could be worth it. Otherwise, count me out.

I don't think AMEX will call to get your missing credits. I think it basically does the same thing as MileageMiner. It just consolidates all the info from all the different frequent flyer/guest programs out there.

Been there...done that with Mileage Minder. The tracking for missing miles is nice but you can do it yourself with a simple database. Further, if you OW out and come back by car, train or horse-shank, they will forever remind you that you MIGHT have missed some miles.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. This service from American Express, called "Rewards Manager" is exactly the same as "MileageMiner" except for one fact - it also tracks MR points (which MileageMiner doesn't).

So, whether it is worth it or not, it if FREE for one year if you go through the Expedia link mentioned above. Try it, if you don't like it, you have lost nothing.

(They will NOT handle missing mileage credit on your behalf, you still must do the leg work yourself)

I stumbled on a banner link for a new service offered by SkyMall ... same deal, cobranded Mileage Miner, but the big difference is this one appears to be absolutely free! I guess SkyMall pays your membership for you ...

Go to http://www.skymalltravel.com and it' called Mileage Manager.

The problem I have is that I have an old membership from when it was free, and it won't let me sign up for a new free membership from Sky Mall!

beckles- Can't you just resign your old membership and then sign up again later- after you change your mind, having realized your prior mistake! You might have to get a new username or email address! I figured you probably already thought of this, but was just curious? Doesn't work?

doc ~ It remembers your FF numbers and won't let two accounts have the same FF numbers.

It doesn't seem to let you completely cancel your old account either ...

So, when I try to enter my FF number in my new account, it tells me that FF number is already in another account, my old expired account.

Just got this e-mail from MileageMiner to change your account to skymalltravel:

Dear mijne,
A few months ago, you enrolled in the MileageMiner frequent flyer account
management service but did not become a continuing subscriber. However, I
wanted to let you know that SkyMallTravel.com now offers our MileageMiner
service for FREE. If you want to "switch" your old account to the
SkyMallTravel.com offer, simply reply to this message and check the box
below. (Enter your response like this [X].)

[ ] Continue my subscription for free, compliments of SkyMallTravel.com
(Please allow 1-3 business days to reactivate your account.)

[ ] Don't extend my MileageMiner subscription. Please delete my account
from the service.

The SkyMallTravel.com offering is identical to what MaxMiles provides,
except that SkyMallTravel.com pays the subscription fee for you. It is a
free user benefit of SkyMall's on-line travel service. Therefore you'll
continue receiving online access through SkyMallTravel.com as well as
periodic account statements via e-mail without charge. If you choose to
switch, we'll reactivate your account and you won't need to re-enter
anything. And if you enroll before 9/30/99, you'll also be entered in
SkyMall's sweepstakes to win 150,000 frequent flyer miles on the airline of
your choice. For more details, visit www.SkyMallTravel.com and click on the
Mileage Manager button to login to your account.

Thank you for your time and attention. MaxMiles does not support "spam" or
unsolicited e-mail, so if you elect to be removed from the MileageMiner
service, we will delete all of your account information from our records and
you will not receive any more messages from MaxMiles.

Sincerely,
Paul
