I only told them that so Amex manually post the reimbursement. They were for actual flights with gift cards used to partially offset them.

It looks like only charges under $50 are automatically reimbursed. Charges $50 and above have to manually done . I was able to have a rep manually apply the $53.

Additional charges I've made paid partially with GCs
2x $29.80 11/10 reimbursed 11/14
$44 on 11/18. reimbursed 11/21.
$57 on 11/18. No amount was reimbursed.

Just to circle back, I got whatever credit remained in my account for a change fee. Worked for me, even though I incurred the fee late in 2018, and the fee was not transparent on the charge statement. After it posted, I chatted with csr who manually posted.

I had earlier communicated by chat to let them know the situation and that there would not be distinct bill for change fee.

Amex Plat: Maybe i'm jumping the gun but purchased (3) fares between HNL - OGG for $48.80 each on Aug 2. As of Aug 6 my portal does not show reimbursed but my benefits portal shows my airline credit used up for 2019. Note that I did use up about $55 in inflight purchases as well as baggage fees earlier in the year. Will update the post when it fully posts to my account.

edit: As of August 8 my account shows the credits as reimbursed!

what if you buy it at the time of booking, does the extra fee then get reimbursed?

Did two seat upgrades $99 each, on 1/1.. haven't received a credit yet. Made sure to select airline before I did the purchase as well

1/20 bought a $49 ticket, paid $10 for a front row seat and $37.68 for miles maximizer
1/22 all three charges posted separately.
1/24 all three credits posted.
