UK Platinum increase to 450 (July 2012)? What new benefits?

As noted by those in the BA forum, Amex have implemented a 50% increase in fee for the UK Platinum Card - up from 300 to 450 - see http://www.americanexpress.com/uk/platinum-card/

For just now it looks like referrals still go through at 300 (or at the least they still SAY 300, therefore you could challenge them if they charged you 450), but don't know how long that will last ... [moderator edit]...see the list at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...mo-active.html and PM one of the folk there!)

I really hope this either comes with some great benefits (more MR points & better insurance & FF programe benefits) or my card will be cancelled.

Give the fee is now the same as the US, but the benefits are the same (more or less) this is just crazy!

Happy to refer if people want the 300 fee. PM me.

Agreed, if they make the CX gold, SPG Gold and HH Gold permanent rather than first year only benefits its definitely worth keeping.

Doubt they will offer 1.5-2MR per , but it would be nice if they did.

I wonder if the fee increase indicates that the insurance benefit will be restored? Reducing the insurance coverage -and- raising the fee would be a peculiar strategy.

Note that if you start on this page:

http://www.americanexpress.com/uk/platinum-card/

...scroll down and click Very important information you are taken to a popup, from which you can Read Summary Box which still shows the 300 annual fee:

https://secure.cmax.americanexpress....ummary_Box.pdf

There is clearly an editing error, but which page is wrong?

And more importantly (and probably somewhat more binding), the terms & conditions link that your "important information" link brings you to also has 300 fee on the last page.
https://secure.cmax.americanexpress....Conditions.pdf

however the terms and conditions page that you are offered when you click "apply now" has 450

The interesting thing is if I go to my personal referral page, and click "apply now", its a different summary of the pre-requisites (age, min income, uk resident, 300 fee), but the T&C link appears to bring you to the 450 document.

Still not confirmed if the fee for existing members is changing or not though.

Someone needs to teach the Amex website department about $variables.

Unbelievable they could make such a pigs ear out of a relatively simple thing like changing a price on a website, yet we trust them to work out our bills correctly.

As is Club Carlson, which I'm finding quite a good benefit for once.

Amex Platinum (uk) new benefits speculation thread

Apparently the price increase to 450 from July will also mean there are some new benefits.

What would you like to see included?

Here's my personal wishlist....

CX gold, SPG Gold and HH Gold as permanent benefits.
A clear target for getting a Centurion invite.

Apparently the fact that the price increase has been made public is a mistake, hence the lack of benefit announcements.

It will have to have some pretty significant benefits to keep me as a cardholder. Particularly after the recent change to the insurance.

They'd keep my by offering a BA companion voucher every year as part of having the card...

How about status with BA or VS? Why stick with CX?

SPG gold is permanent - how about HH diamond! That would keep me.

I think we could see increased insurance again, and a retention of card bonus
