Just received a notice on my statement. Effective July 1, any hotel stay charged to my Amex Gold Premier Rewards card will earn 1 point for every $1 instead of the customary 2 points in the first year and 1.5 points thereafter...A devaluation of the program...This applies to any hotel that has a frequent guest program which is the only type of a hotel in which I ever stay.

I have edited the thread title to specify the Rewards Plus Gold card. This was the card which was replaced by Premier Rewards Gold. Even though vdostoi1 refers to Premier Rewards Gold that card never offered a bonus for hotels as a standard feature. Devaluing old cards is a standard strategy to encourage remaining cardholders to switch to the newer product.
