Travel is booming

It seems the trend looking by these numbers is the bonus's are getting less in less of both frequency and percentage.

I have been waiting for the BA promotion to break but it appears to not be coming these time around.

Hoping for the best!

Transfer bonuses have become less frequent. I hope Amex realizes that for many frequent fliers, these transfer bonuses make it worth-while to use their cards. Otherwise I would just use a British Airlines Chase card... or My UA Chase card.

And get stuck with non-convertible miles.

I only ever convert them them to BA or DL anyway... I used to transfer them to friends or family, but that door has been slammed shut.

... and earn fewer Avios per dollar on groceries and air travel than you can earn with the AmEx PR Gold, even without a transfer bonus?

you are correct about the groceries, but most co-branded airline cards give a 2x bonus airline tickets (on their airline)

There are a few perks to the Amex cards... but for me, the most important is the transfer bonuses.

True -- and for the Chase BA Visa it's 2.5x for BA spend, which is better than most It's still not as good as Amex's 3x, though, plus an additional 15,000 points if you spend $30,000 in a calendar year.

It has been years since a DL transfer bonus. This program of transferring is quickly becoming less and less worthwhile. Yet another erosion although I don't fault Amex specifically for it. Never thought we'd see the day we were mourning the loss of AirTran as a partner.

If they could persuade Starwood to give up that hideous conversion rate. Now that would be interesting.

Ha, if only. That'd be the day.

Coming up on almost a year since the last BA bonus (which itself was only 20%).

Ugh.

The last BA bonus ended 12-31-2013... that's just shy of 8 months, not a year yet!
But I am growing concerned that we may have seen the last of them.

Other than the fact that it hasn't happened in over 6 months, is there any reason to believe that they won't do it again?

I have to make an MR->BA transfer, and I've been waiting...and hoping...

I have 100K AMEX MR points sitting because they stopped the transfer to Southwest and then AA. Hoping for a bonus so I can get all my points out and hope to use the transferred points at a later date to either BA or VA.

There have been rumblings and rumors that transfer bonuses are being phased-out... I hope they are incorrect.

I only have about 50k Amex points that I plan to transfer to BA or DL... whichever has an offer.

It's been a month since the Hawaiian Air Miles promotional offer. I'm beginning to think this is just another in a growing list of Membership Rewards benefits that's been phased out.
