In the USA British Airways is promiscuous, and does not appear to attach any special significance to their relationship with Chase. Avois can be earned with cards issued by:
- American Express (Membership Rewards & SPG)
- Bank of America (Merrill+)
- Chase (Ultimate Rewards & BAEC VISA)
- Diners Club MasterCard
- HSBC Premier MasterCard

Are you talking about this card?
https://www.rewards.ml.com/RWDapp/ml/merrillplus
If so, may I know where to find info on the transfer to BA?

Besides, it's not really wise to transfer points to an airline (even with a bonus offer in place) unless you have an immediate need for the miles... devaluations are occurring much too frequently, and parking miles on the airline side of the ledger puts them a greater risk of devaluation. It makes sense for you to transfer now, as you want to close the Amex account, but I passed-up the 20% offer last December too -- I had no immediate need for the BA miles. (You could transfer them to BA today, and then have a much better use for them on DL tomorrow...)
Call Amex about when you need to cancel... I think you have a while. Probably until the due-date of the statement. And then I think they might prorate the annual fee if you cancel in another month or two,. Annual fees are paid in advance... so if you cancel in the middle of the year the portion you don't use is refunded.

I recommend chatting or messaging them to confirm that 60 day rule, but that's what the representative just explained to me over the phone.

Great news! Don't cancel your card yet! My annual fee posted 5/23/14 the day the statement closed. Payment due 6/7/14. I just called to cancel, and the lady on the phone said I have 60 days after the fee posts to change my mind and receive a full refund of the $450....so that just bought me until July 23 to hope for BA transfer bonus and leave my current points alone. I paid the bill today, and I will just get a refund by July 23 when I call back an actually go through with the cancellation.
