Smile Any AVIOS or other promos in 2014?

Oh wise AMEX FT Sages,

I am new to this forum. I have a speculative question. Is there a likely Amex MR promo with BA Avios or Emirates similar to those that recently expired within the next several weeks ?

I need to get a o/w B/C ticket ORD-BAH in the next four weeks and I am kicking myself that I missed out on the BA Avios and Emirates Bonus programs.

Any thoughts and guidance are most greatly appreciated.

I cannot think of any reason that BA would run another transfer promotion with American Express [USA] in January, inasmuch as their previous promotion just ended on Tuesday.

Judging by the history outlined there, I would expect another bonus in approximately 2 to 4 months.

Still no Delta Bonus

I have some MR points I'll need to transfer out later this month. Will transfer to Delta. Anyone's crystal ball predicting a Delta transfer bonus coming up in the next few months?

The last transfer bonus to DL was in late 2011. So It has been more than 2 years. It is very hard to tell, however chances of a bonus to DL are next to none .

I hope you all don’t mind my asking. I’m not an AmEx MR regular user; simply get a no-annual-fee account once or twice a year, meet the minimum spend in a month or 2, transfer the points to partner program (often Delta), cancel the card and then repeat ASAP. Currently have 27003 points I’d like to transfer and then close the account.

Does anyone know for certain why DL transfer bonuses stopped?
I would love to see either a BA or DL transfer bonus.

Consensus from this (November 2013) Delta Forum thread is that AmEx will also be unlikely to repeat a Delta MQM transfer bonus.

Wondering why, other than what gv111 mentioned above, it’s so doubtful that AmEx will repeat Delta transfer bonuses?

Thank you.

You quoted the reasons above.

That being said, I was hoping Amex was going to take losing the AA/US lounges as a way to beef up their relationship with Delta like AA did Citi, but given they just changed their lounge policies, I doubt it will happen. I would love to be proven wrong though!

I'm seeing an ad on Flyertalk that's offering 40% more Virgin America Elevate points until 1/31/2014. I don't see it anywhere on the Membership Rewards site.

Perhaps it's a new offer that hasn't been published yet?
