I hope they have a high BA bonus coming up... Will probably use Avios to travel AUS-LAX-HNL next year.

German BA Bonus

German card has a bonus on BA, and as normal on the German card, it's stunningly underwhelming at 25%, making it an exactly 1 MR to 1 Avios (normally 5 MR to 4 Avios).

I'll still probably transfer 29K just to have some ready for a TATL Upg award.

In anticiapation of a bonus, which program would be better to transfer into for a trip to Europe: BA or Delta?

Probably depends where to where. Ba has a lot more award availability, but fees may be killer. Also if you are on the west coast, avoid required is hefty sometimes.

BA has great deals JFK-DUS (40k r/t on Air Berlin), and BOS-DUB (25k r/t on Aer Lingus) No fuel surcharges on these partners. But you have the extra expense of getting to BOS or JFK for these award deals.

BA is far more likely to have a transfer bonus. DL hasn't had a bonus for about two years.
BA redeposit fees are a lot lower as well.

Is there a chance of a Virgin Atlantic bonus this year? I'm looking to transfer to VA and then to Hilton at 2:1. Any other good transfer options for Hilton points?
