Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

Yeah separate account. So I don't know why. Will try again next week.

Separate account, not authorized user.

Purchased $100 Southwest e-gift card (on Southwest.com) using Amex Gold. Travel credit posted day after charge settled - couldn't have been any easier!

Reports over the years of higher value numbers like $200 or $250 not going through being seen by the system as fees and hence not getting reimbursed. I've never had an issue with $100 credits, but I'm taking the chance after some recent data points and waiting for my $200 reimbursement right now. Getting nervous but it should post tomorrow...

Can anyone confirm $200 (or $250 for these Aspir(e)ational members) GCs getting credited or not? It would be very helpful to update the wiki on this thread to reflect the latest info regarding this as well as how many GCs you can use per ticket on WN.

Gracias, after reading back a bit I have 100% confidence in putting all my chips on getting a single $250 GC reimbursed. Still would be nice to have a wiki comparable to that of the AA and DL reimbursement threads.

Any recent DPs of $200 gift cards working for Platinum or do I need to go with $100 GCs?

Hmm. I've seen reports lately of reimbursements for higher amounts on SW. I've gotten full $250 on Aspire and $185 on Plat reimbursed myself.

I did one $250 gc on the Aspire this week. That bodes pretty well for the 200 platinum.
