Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

Question Using gift card to pay taxes on already issed ticket?

I read somewhere that WN gift card can be used to pay taxes (unlink AA).

I have an existing ticket reservation using points, and the points needed have gone up since I ticketed. Is it possible for me to get a WN gift card and redo the international taxes and fees to use the gift card credit?

To throw another monkey wrench in this there was a schedule change they called me about but I didn't change flights yet. Southwest told me that I could change flights for free without paying more miles if I wanted to at a later date. Just wondering if I do the routing change if it is a brand new transaction and can then use the gift card to offset some $ paid in taxes.

Now that Amex plat has reimbursed $200, do I need to spend another $200 to meet minimum spend of $3k? I've already spent the 3k.

If you're saying you're now at $2800 why cut it so close?
Spend $200 more on something, anything.

I've spent the minimum 3k already. With the reimbursement, it puts me below 3k.

Thumbs up

Hallelujah! Purchased $100 gift card on 8/31, it finally was automatically reimbursed on 10/9. Guess that means I should go ahead and purchase a second one, then.

My 2 purchases from 8/26 and 8/27 were finally credited on 10/9.

Looks like they had a computer issue and were way behind in issuing credits.

I did 2 more x $50 one on 8/26 and one on 8/27 and neither has been credited yet.

I will give it a couple more days before calling in.
