Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

$200 fee credit

I bought a $200 Southwest gift card on Aug 25, the credit has still not posted. Should I call them? Any recent data points on the $200 credit?

Spent $200 on WN, did not get reimbursed for 9 days, agent now tells me I am not enrolled although I did. So I told her to enroll me now, but what happens to the $200 gift card charge? Anyone get reimbursed if the charge was made before the enrollment?

Thanks crzn. I did enroll but called again, now they tell me I was not enrolled in the system, so did the airline pref again. Let's see if the credit posts now.

It won't post on its own if you enrolled after the purchase posted. You'll need to call in and see if you can get the CSR to do the credit for you. This is very YMMV. I would not mention it was a gift card...

Yes I will be pleasantly surprised if it works, will give it a few days and call. Otherwise I guess I have to do another $200 GC.

Couldn't find anything in this thread. Did anyone have any luck on getting a reimbursement for GC's using the extra credit received in March in lieu of losing lounge access for US and AA?

I currently have $500 I want to use ($200 annual + $300 extra due to cancelled lounge access). I was hoping I could just go for a $500 GC, instead of 5 $100 GCs.

From the T&C it appears that WN gift cards can be used for incidental fees like taxes and fees due on flights booked with points (unlike AA where this is not allowed). Can anyone confirm this?

I registered Southwest as my airline. I purchased a $40 gift card on September 24.

The credit still has not posted, and I am concerned that it might not. When I look at the transaction details on the american express site, it includes a section title Flight Details with a flight number and part that says, "Document Type: SPD/AIR FREIGHT".

That description is the same as the one on my purchase. I would give it a few more days.
