Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

I contactedAmex to have my airline changes to SW on 3/8/2019. Then I buy SW giftcard on 3/10/2019 and has a charge details posted on my account similar to your post with ticket number and SPD/AIR FREIGHT , The charge was changes from pending to posted on 3/12/2019 . Until now, no automatically reimburse of the $125 shows up on my account.

I wonder what I can do now. Am I having a bad luck or AMEX is no longer reimbursement for SW gift card purchase.
I purchased a eGC $200 in March 11. The charge showed as posted yesterday (March 13). And this morning (March 14) the Airline Credit Tracker on the benefits page is showing as all used up for this year. So I expect the reimbursement to show later today or tomorrow.
Just wait a day and you should see the tracker go down too. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.

Thank you for the suggestion. I searched and found a suggestion to switch to Chrome, it worked on the first try. Now praying I get reimbursed.

March 8 - $125 posted
March 11 - $125 reimbursed
March 11 - $125 EGC purchased
March 12 - $125 posted
March 15 - $125 reimbursed

It seems it takes 2 days for it to show up on the tracker, than another 1-2 days to actually reimburse.

Good luck! I had to search multiple articles to find a direct URL to type in for airline selection, which was amex's website with /airlinechoice, and it only worked after 5 tries over a couple days. Waited a bit over a day before purchasing (it had showed up on my benefits tracker by that time).

Why not buy 2 $250 SW GCs for 2 $250 credits? Someone said you get this twice a year for one $450 AF?

You receive one $250 airline fee reimbursement per calendar year. One in 2019, and another in 2020. Both could fall into a single 12 month account membership year covered by a single annual fee.

I used Amex Personal Platinum in Dec 2018 for (2) x $100 WN gift cards, in 2 different orders, after reading comments on here. Reimbursed within a few days.
I just did this again, but forgot and ordered the 2 at the same time/order. Charge has posted (3/20) but no credit yet. I am concerned because the description this time says "Freight" and has a ticket # !!
Last time, it did not say this.

Am I "Bonvoyed" ?

The SW GCs have Resale value or you just keep it to pay for future SW flights?

Just to clarify... I applied for AX Aspire card in May, 2018. As my 1st purchase, I bought a $250 SW GC and was reimbursed for the $250. I was waiting until May 2019 to buy another, but can I buy one now (Mar 2019) and get reimbursed now?

Yes.

With the Hilton Honors Aspire Card you can also take advantage of the $250 Airline Fee Credit for incidental charges that are charged by the airline to your Card account.[1] Select one qualifying airline and then receive up to $250 per calendar year in statement credits for incidental fees such as checked baggage, in-flight refreshments, and flight change fees.‡
Note that the Resort Credit is NOT calculated on the same basis.

Earn up to $250 in Hilton Resort Credits on your Card each anniversary year, when you stay at participating resorts within the Hilton portfolio.
