Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

Should I purchase 2 100 GC separately? like 1- 100 GC today then another 100 GC two days later. if I purchase 2 100 GCs in one transaction, it will show 200 statement, right?

please advice. THank you!
If I were you I'd buy $50 GCs. I would also buy them two at a time a couple of days apart. They may have a threshold under which charges automatically post, but I don't know. Either way - it will work. Even if you bought $100 GCs. But according to recent experiences, you may have to call in or chat after 4 weeks to have the the credit manually posted. It's smooth. So don't worry about that. If I'm not mistaken, SW allows up 8 (?) cards at a time, so multiple gift cards is not an issue.

Why would 2 separate transactions post as 1? They will post as 2 separate $100 transactions..

That's pretty promising to hear. I wonder if it was a glitch in the system that kept the credit from automatically being issued from earlier reports. I still got another rpg to use the airline credit.

Just got reimbursed for $100 SW gift card. CSR said it would take 2-4 weeks and because it was almost 4 weeks since purchase, he did it manually. It took 2 days but I received the credit.

$100 GC purchase posted October 1, reimbursement showed up October 4 but dated October 3.

$75 GC purchase Sept 1 not reimbursed, I'll be chatting with them sometime this week.

Successful reimbursement after calling in

Thank you all for your guidance!

My $100 southwest giftcard purchase from August 26 was promptly reimbursed after talking with an agent for less than minute.

Quick question, do these need to be physical from southwest, or do online also work?

Appreciate your guidance and help!

I've only ever done digital gift cards and they've all been reimbursed.

Where do you suggest purchasing $50 Southwest gift cards with Amex business platinum?
