Reminder: you must enroll and select UA as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase (this includes MPX). Click HERE.
Caution: As of December 2016, it appears that American Express no longer reimburses MPX transactions.
Credits generally appear 3-4 days after making the transaction. No need to worry unless they don't appear after a week.
TravelBank funds can only be used on United and United Express flights. Partner flights are not eligible.

The consensus is that United gift registry contributions will be reimbursed and gift card purchases will not. So

- Set up a gift registry for yourself
- Use the link in your gift registry web page to send an announcement to your email address. This better, faster, and more reliable than searching for your gift registry, especially if you have a common name. Even someone with an unusual surname like mre5765 has could not find his registry after creating it.
- Log out of united.com
- Follow the Make Contribution in your gift registry email
- Contribute using your Amex platinum card

Using the advice from above, I did online chat to ask for reimbursement of my $200 gift registry purchase from late August. Without questioning, the agent issued the reimbursement. A nice end to my unfortunate timing.
It seems like the GR purchases are again processing. I have a family member who still hasn't tried to collect on his 2015 reimbursement. I guess the safest thing to do is wait a couple more weeks to make sure the automatic processing is working well now.

2 GR purchases of $50 each on 9/3, chatted with an agent a week ago and he approved the reimbursement, saying it would post in 2-3 days. still nothing, so i think i'm out of luck on this one. i may try again in a little while if it seems like reimbursements are posting automatically again.

I bought award tickets on Sept. 10 with $66 taxes and fees. Sept. 20 I purchased $112 infant ticket. Both of them posted as passenger tickets and no credited so far. Can I chat or call in to say these are seat change fees or something else purchased together with the tickets and ask for credit? thanks

Anyone done this with the Amex PRG? I put $50 onto my UA gift registry from my PRG a few weeks ago. I had no issues when I did this with the Platinum but got some pushback from a rep when I called about the rebate for my PRG. Tried chat and was told they could manually push it through after 2 weeks.
Today I tried chat again and rep said she'd push it through.. Bit of a hassle though.
