I used the link and was approved immediately -- however, they can't expedite the card if you do it through the link.

I signed up for the Platinum card a week ago, received and activated the card on Saturday, and requested that promo code 5748 be applied retroactively to my account this morning. Within a couple of hours (maybe less), I received a response that 100K Membership Rewards points would be posted to my account after spending (and paying off) $1,000 within three months.

I finally gave in and applied for this card today and it was immediately approved.

Gberg -- it was a new card. I've always had a card through my employer in the past or a card for spouses account.
vupadhayay -- I don't know if you can call and use the code. I went for a sure thing (50K), and will try to get the bump to 100K after I activate the card.

I also used a 50k link that someone posted from Google, but when I called to activate, they said that no bonus was on the account. When I gave them the bonus ID of the 50k offer, they said it was for a 25k offer.
Ultimately, it didn't make a difference, because they agreed to give me 100k (although I have to wait until the end of August to call in to get them to apply it). Just an FYI.

Negative. No reports of anyone directly applying for the 100k offer. I tried twice by phone before applying online for the 25k offer. Most people have had success with the Online app + pre-activation offer bump + post spend/statement paid secure message request of points release.

I just want to add another data point: applied for a new Plat card last week using TPGuy's 25k link, was approved the same day, and finally received the card in 6 days. I sent a secure message to Amex thereafter requesting to confirm that the 100k promo was associated with my new account.
I received a response saying promo 5748 had expired 7/11 and that I was thus no longer eligible to receive said promo.
As suggested earlier in the thread, I called Membership Rewards and asked them to retroactively apply the 100k promo to my card account since it was a significantly better offer than the one I received. Membership Rewards agreed, but said it may take up to 8 weeks (after I met the 1k minimum spend) for the 100k bonus MR points to post.

It'll usually be on the back of the same paper the RSVP number is on, and it will be bolded, it'll be a 4 digit number.
