USA Centurion & Platinum Benefit: Global Entry/TSA fee refund [USA]
I have not seen this before, but noticed it on the Centurion site today:
Save time and bypass arrival lines at most major U.S. airports when you return from international travel. Global Entry is a U.S. government program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved travelers. When you use your Centurion Card(R) to apply for Global Entry membership, we'll credit the application fee, and if approved, your membership will be valid for 5 years. |
AMEX is def coming through for its valued customers

Where/how to sign up? Thanks.

Wow, that's awesome.

According to an agent I spoke with, this benefit will also be available for Business Platinum cards.

I recently signed up for this program and must say, it's nothing short of awesome! Even if you do not travel internationally on a regular basis, it's worth it for the handful of times you may. The only drawback is that everyone in your party has to be a part of it, otherwise, they will have to wait in the regular immigration/customs line while you fast track it via the Global Entry kiosk.

If you mean for the Global Entry program, part of this must be done in person:

I have global entry - it is prob. one of the biggest perks of being a US citizen and flying back home. I end up waiting for my bags @ the baggage carousel though - even with the elite tags on the bag. :-/

While it will be touted as a new benefit (and something is better than nothing) what it is really is the ability to apply for the global entry program with a waived application fee, that's all. Anyone (who is a citizen or legal resident, or a dutch citizen) can apply for one, there is no guarantee it will be granted, and the application fee is 100 (waived for US-cents). If you have a Sentri or Nexus card, there also is no application fee (no need for a Cent card). |

This sounds like a great perk. Does anyone know if non-U.S. citizens may apply?
I'm a U.S. citizen living abroad, and my husband is a Danish citizen. We visit the U.S. 2-3 times per year. This would be a great benefit if we could both use it. We both have Centurion (he is the supplementary card holder on my U.S.-based Cent. account). Susan |

Looks like you might have a shot:
http://www.globalentry.gov/eligibility.html Hopefully they'll add other VWP countries soon. I'm trying to skim through the long thread that mia referenced to see if I have GE, whether there is a way for him to jump the line beside me. Susan |
