I've done all rooms myself.

When I have reserved muliple rooms, FHR wants me to checkin first for everyone even if their names are also on the reservation.

When my wife arrives at the hotel before me, I always call the hotel in advance to make sure she doesn't have an issue. We have had issues at some hotels even though she has an Amex Plat in her name.

Three Vegas Experiences - FHR

Have stayed in Vegas the last two weekends on FHR.

Last weekend, stayed one night at Encore and one night at Mandarin Oriental.

Encore - booked standard room at $200/night. $100 spa credit (used on 2 day passes), free breakfast for two (we did the Wynn buffet, which was great). No upgrade available. Even though we were supposed to have early check-in, our room was not available for an hour after we checked in at 3. I called FHR to complain and was put in a room on a higher floor with better view immediately. On the upside, I won $100 on roulette while waiting. Lines for check-in and check-out were extremely long (30-45 minutes each time) even though we were there on a Thursday.

Mandarin Oriental - booked standard room for $200/night and got upgraded to a higher floor. Very nice, roomy room. Had breakfast for 2 in the restaurant which was great. Also used our $100 spa credit on two day passes but had to pay an additional $20 since day usage is $60 (!!!!) each. The spa was very cool though. The best part was a whirlpool/hot tub with lounge chairs inside that overlooked the strip. Late checkout was wonderful. No casino in this hotel but quick walk to Aria and Cosmopolitan.

This weekend, went to The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. Booked the standard room for $200/night but got upgraded to V corner suite. $80 breakfast credit was used in The Cafe (very good), and got a spa day pass for my aunt and also a treatment (wax) for myself with the $100 spa credit (spa day pass was included with my treatment). Late checkout granted with no problems. The only issue we had was that wifi was spotty and that was really annoying since I had work to turn in on Sun morning. I ended up having to go down to Starbucks.

All in all, great FHR experiences. Love the Platinum Card, esp in Vegas.

My understanding was that the MO is now charging a "resort fee" that included access to the spa. Is that not the case? Or is it just access to the gym?

Do you remember what type of complimentary breakfast option was offered during your most recent stay? I have a stay at the Venetian coming up, and I'm wondering if the breakfast option is still pretty terrible. If anyone else has any more recent information/experiences, I would be grateful.

I stayed here last year and I had room service for breakfast.... it's pretty continental.... consists of juices, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and fruits

For breakfast, you basically call up room service in the morning and say that you want the American Express breakfast (explained in the FHR letter given at the front desk)and they'll ask you how many people are dining.

For pre-fixe lunch/dinner , the menu is the "AMEX Menu" in the restaurant

Thanks for the information jammanxc! Were you able to use the VIP/invited guest check-in?

I just came back from staying in the Bellagio with FHR,

We got 15% discount on booking. Got upgraded free to a fountain view room (really nice view of the fountain). Got $16 vouchers (x2) for duration of stay from any of their cafe's (was there 5 days, $160 value). Got $100 to spa or $85 to their "Olives" restaurant. We used it at Olives, sat on the balcony overlooking the fountain (got a bit wet, but nice experience).

Was very much worth it. Made use of all of the perks. Excellent experience.

My first FHR experience.

Stayed this past weekend, Sat - Tues, at the Bellagio. Great experience. We were upgraded to a Fountain View room, 28th floor, dead center, renovated room - very nice.

We used the $100 voucher in the Spa for a discount on a Bellagio custom massage. We had breakfast in Cafe Bellagio where they took $28 off our breakfast. (Used two vouchers each time)

All in all, FHR was great in Vegas.

For the prices you're getting at each place, no clear winner or loser.

Enjoy Vegas ..... September is still toasty and a great time to be down there
Thanks all for your advices... I finally booked THEhotel as their fare was actually 112.50$. Even if I have to pay the resort fee and 50$ for the 50min massage it would probably worth the money... Will do a quick report after.

It includes access to the gym (plus yoga classes) and shoe shine service and local and toll free calls too.

Coffee/tea is only available between 6-8am or maybe 7am-9am

They used to include all this (except the coffee, internet and phone calls) for free in the room rates, it's not like you even had to pay extra for it in the past. Gym access was free and now they try and include as part of the 'golden access' fee. I use the gym and the internet but the MO golden access fee is a joke, the fee is more expensive than when I used to pay for the internet on it's own (remember gym access used to be included). I hate them for it.

Smile Recent exp w/Bellagio Suites and/or Wynn Tower Suites

has anybody had any recent experience with either:
  1. Booking a Bellagio Suite - is Bellagio still not upgrading suites to anything? Do you get Fountain View? Are you stuck in the Spa tower?
  2. Booking a Wynn Tower Suites rm - did you get an upgrade to an Executive or a Parlor?

Overall, is the Wynn FHR experience > Bellagio FHR, if so/if not, why?

In both cases, weekdays.
