I just tried using this lounge this week, after rushing through immigration and customs, to find the doors closed and the metal gate down, about 3:25. I am waiting to hear why they closed early.

At 3:25 they're not letting anyone in. There's nothing you can accomplish by closing you can't do in a public lav.

I've heard nothing - here of elsewhere. (It's the UK - maybe dainty tea sandwiches with crusts carefully trimmed off? )

Please do let us know when you visit.

LOL -- I'll file a full report, maybe even a few pictures, but I won't be there for a few weeks.

I visited with my wife, I'm EXP(J) and she GLD(Y) and obviously she flew in the J seat and I hoped for a shower before work. They turned us away.

We pouted a little and moved on, but guess the admissions policy is very strict.

You could have entered on your own as the ticketed J passenger, but you may not bring in a guest so if you presented as both or nothing then 'nothing' was the correct answer...

If your wife had been ticketed in J then you should both have been admitted.

Again? You haven't asked the question before, so no sense getting snippy it wasn't answered... I'd suggest a polite tone when you're looking for advice from fellow travellers.

The rules are on AA's website; the relevant section quoted here:

Customers who can access the lounge when arriving on a same-day flight:*

  • First, Business Class, oneworld® EmeraldSM and British Airways Premier customers on long-haul international flights marketed and operated by British Airways.
