Nope .. it REALLY is outside the TSA ring of security!

And you have to get in line with TSA once leaving the AC.

I think it is one of two AC's (JFK T8 being the other) that are outside 'security'.

Allow time!

BTW the AAngels are great at PHL.

There are 3 ACs outside security, FRA being the 3rd.

I've never had a problem clearing security after leaving the PHL AC. There's a special security lane (closest to the AC door) you can use. The AC agents will even stamp your boarding pass if you're visiting the club but flying a different airline so you can use the elite line.

I've been flying to Phi a lot recently, and noticed the AC outside security ... figured i wouldn't use it bc I'm neurotic about security. A couple of weeks ago the airport was recovering from terrible weather and the lines downstairs to check in were long, even for the kiosks. I figured (correctly) that i could check in at the AC. Very convenient. Also, as noted above, the folks that run the AC in Phi are extremely good.

Usually you'll get Joe in the morning, and I think Sheryl? in the afternoon/evening. There are a few others, but I don't encounter them as frequently. Pretty good AC staff... still can't hold a candle to the Austin AAngels. Previous post was correct about the security line and an elite passthrough - it used to be worse before they redesigned the security entrance there, as the lines backed up all the way towards the parking garage and you couldn't hop the elite line until you had waited for 30+ minutes. Nowadays they have more of a queue area AFTER the check/elite area, which helps. Either way, it's not hard to poke your head out the door to see the line if you are worried about clearing too late...

PHL AC people are awesome. The lady that's usually there in the morning has even stepped out from the counter and personally escorted me to the elite line. I did get funny looks from people...

Thanks for the tips, nice little club.

Joe was there at 6am and pointed me to the Elite line, so I spent 1/2 hour in the club before I went to security. Still a long line at TSA, but I skipped all that line (with some nasty looks) and got to the gate WAYYYY to early. I should have lounged around for another 1/2 hr.

THANKS FLYERTALKERS!

Smile PHL Adrmials Club AAngel strikes again!

Its been years since I did some traveling to PHL but had a week business trip there last week. I knew from experience (and here online) that the PHL AC AAngels were wonderful!

Due to fare issues I was booked on a 3:30pm flight (it was $400 cheaper than a 10am better connection) .... so instead of killing all of Saturday sleeping in at the hotel I went to PHL and checked in. The Ticket Counter suggested I stand by for a 9:30am or then the 11:30am flight (the 10:00am was way overbooked).

I went to the AC to grab some coffee.

Tracey was there Saturday morning and welcomed me when I checked in. She said she had been trying to get me onto any flight confirmed on AA or another airline (Friday night was horrid with storms so there were lots of stranded pax and she thought I was one of them).

The 9:30am was oversold by 6 pax and I was the first standby. Tracey said that if I did not make the flight, to come back to the AC where she would help me with other options (the next flight or an even wierder re-route). She 'held' a seat (upgrade) on the connection I would need if I made the earlier flight from PHL and said she would monitor if I got on the flight and then confirm the seat for me while I was airborne.

I mentioned FT to Tracey and she had heard of it .. but did not know how much we really love the AAngels at the PHL AC.

Yup, got on the flight (coach tho bulkhead) even though there were a bunch of standbys milling around the ticket counter. And sure enough in DFW my connecting flight was confirmed with no issues.

Just wanted to reinforce that this is a great AC where the AAngels do a WONDERFUL job!

I agree

I go through PHL about once a month and Tracey is the most helpful agent -- anywhere. Saved my trip more than once. I have left her a few of my rewards chits (whatever they are called now) and hope you did or can do the same!

Possibly the funniest and weirdest Admirals club, in a good way.
TSA line was empty when I went in for a sandwich, and it was full when I came out an 1.5hr later.
Got right thru priority access though

Welcome to FT!

Is there any reason in particular you think the PHL is the funniest and weirdest ACs?

It was inferred in a thread on the US forum that AA would be moving from terminal A to D or E, but I haven't read/heard anything about this. Anyone hear anything to that effect?
