Contour / AA

What happens if we have tickets on Contour / AA but the EAS contract isn't renewed? We fly mid July and the Contour contract ends the end of June I think? EAS - is Essential Air Service (tiny regional airports)

If the flights are cancelled, you'll be entitled to a re-route or a refund. I assume there would be no other options from whatever airport you're booked to depart from, so AA would likely offer an alternate airport.

It depends on the city as to who gets the contract. AA has bid to directly take over some routes from Contour. DAC has also bid on some, so one could be rerouted on them. I'm unsure about Air Wisconsin, but they aren't competitive from what I've seen, so chances of them winning are low. Otherwise if Skywest wins it's been under UA/DL codes so unlikely to get rebooked.

Thanks!

Nearest AA flight would be about an hour away. Flight was booked on Contour then AA outbound and AA then Contour return.

I wonder when we will find out the flight is canceled?

I’m able to book the flight from that tiny airport (6 minutes door to door!) via UAL as of today.

kicking myself for not just driving to a bigger regional or to an international hub…

but 6 minutes door to door with TSA taking all of 5-10 minutes…..so tempting….

When EAS works it’s a dream! When it doesn’t…. Oof….

I can’t edit the post but it’s SkyWest / UAL.

Just in case you don't know, you have only one allowed post left today. Tomorrow you can post all you want!

Those are the ones who have applied, Contour hasn't updated their subsidy requested to continue?

Looks like it is SkyWest AA - so hopefully all good...

You still haven't said which city it is, but I pulled all of Contour's contracts and I don't see any that end in June this year. The earliest is September 30th.

Great that’s helpful!
