FWIW, i was at the Philly airport a bit earlier (My domestic flight was then canceled) and it was more of a zoo than I have ever seen it.

They were not able to re-route me or back me up until well into Monday night, arriving after i needed to be where I was going.

Correct, she is trying to get to Heathrow. . . . . .

Glad she got the direct routing she preferred. Looks like the seats are tight to LHR.

Hope the weather continues to hold (or it at least looks like it is holding) and she gets off without further delay (even if bumpy).

Let us know how the baggage re-route goes. I'll make popcorn.

I was going to be spending 30 hours in MSP with my AA FA daughter today. I’m glad I opted not to join her for that 30 hour layover!
Her flight PHL > PHX yesterday was delayed 8 hours, arriving into PHX well after the delayed PHX > MSP flight left.
Future SIL is stuck in JFK with his flight out of JFK for tomorrow (Monday) already canceled.

Friends grown kids stuck in Cedar Rapids to get back to DFW today. They are completely bewildered how and why since “No bad weather in Cedar Rapids or DFW”. I had to explain the entire ripple effect of bad weather in one area of the country and helping her watch the 3 flights for their plane to get from Des Moines to DFW tonight.

It’s a mess! Hope your family friend makes it on the LHR flight this evening and baggage shows up on the flight.

This assumes that AA is actually scanning the bags and truly tracking them.

When things melted down in PHL back in June, it was crystal clear they were too overwhelmed to even do that. We filed the mishandled bag form and were promised they would find our bags and get them to us. When we saw the debacle on the news, we drove back to the airport the next day and found our bags...no one scanned them, or even checked if they were truly ours. For the next five days I continued to get texts "we haven't found your bags yet"...and they never would...because I already had them.

Reading this quickly I saw melt(down) and Philly and thought of a cheesesteak :D.

Since when are there domestic vs international phone agents?

I have been transferred to them when I had an international itinerary and I seem to recall that it was indeed after selecting international on the menu.

Looks like AA736 departed on time tonight! Now the question is whether her luggage did too?!

I don't have any suggestions - but feel your pain and that of your family member. My own family members (here from Germany) were scheduled to depart PHL today to head to the Grand Canyon on a trip they planned for a year. Train tickets, accommodations at the Canyon...lots of special stuff planned. AA cancelled their outbound flight last night and we spent hours trying to find ANY alternative...best AA could do was get them on a flight Tuesday, too late to do a lot of what they'd planned and no chance to shift reservations (everything sold out). They made the crushing decision to cancel the entire thing and were on the phone with travel vendors all morning hoping to secure refunds.

AA is a mess right now in PHL...and not just because of the weather. It only makes the current challenges far worse.

Did you look at flying them out of BWI on Southwest instead? It would cost some money for a walk up ticket, but wouldn't ruin an entire trip

We're getting loud thunder and lots of rain currently in Queens, so I'm guessing flights for the next few hours are going to be a mess out of JFK/LGA. I really empathize with anyone trying to fly through most of the East Coast this weekend - the weather's not great out there.

Might CLT be a possibility, if it's between the Northeast storms and Debby?

I was thinking the same thing. With storms up and down the East Coast continuing, MIA, CLT, PHL, LGA, and JFK will be a mess. I don't envy the flight operations center employees who have to route crews and aircraft to minimize cancelations as ground stops and delays are imposed.

Could hear the rain hitting the roof of T8 when sitting in the Chelsea lounge. Per FR24, the red parts of the storm cells passed right over JFK.

Made it (ironically) on time this evening on JFK-BOS despite an initial delay, which was then pulled in, and late flight being cancelled several hours before pushback. I had booked an earlier DL flight to mitigate a lengthy layover, but glad we didn’t trek to T4 as that was delayed by five hours before being cancelled.

There was a lot of red across the board so I was just happy to make it home.

Yes that was indeed the pun intended. It's the AA special which apparently is served often and generously. The Full Philly Melt. Down.

Does it look like this will spill over into tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday? My flights look okay right now but the red notification encouraging me to change them (uselessly, not even coterminals allowed for free) appears. Of course most alternatives seem zeroed out on EF (including all the flights which SDFC proposed as standby options, which is ridiculous!).

JFK-EZE and the earlier (9pm) MIA-EZE got cancelled due to weather, the later MIA-EZE is gonna depart soon.

I'm one of the flights to EZE tomorrow, and so far they're all operating (by all carriers that fly his route) but AA (three flights) and DL (one flight) are full/zeroed out both tomorrow and Tuesday. I haven't checked UA yet.

The weather tomorrow/Monday on the east coast looks fine. So if something is cancelled its likely a positioning problem you will hear about in advance. Tuesday looks bad, Wednesday a toss-up right now. So I hope people get where they need to go tomorrow.

Yikes! Well hopefully it won't happen in October. I am on that 9:16 PM MIA-EZE and then on to USH to hop on a Sub-Antarctic islands and Antarctica cruise.

AR has nothing out of MIA or JFK but UA out of IAH seems to have some minimal availability (at least 3). Will AA reprotect on other airlines? Several years ago they added on a short domestic hop for free on Air France on to one of my AA itineraries which was cancelled and rebooked but not sure if they still do that.
