Upgrading only one leg - how does baggage work?

Thinking of upgrading a non-status passenger on only the first leg of a connecting flight to get the baggage allowance.

Want to confirm that even though it’s only the first flight the business baggage allowance will apply. All domestic flights on AA metal. Thanks!

That is correct, you get the business allowance even if you only upgrade one segment.

Yes you get the allowance, if you ever do it on the second leg only you might have to have the desk agent override it as there can be a computer glitch only looking at the first leg.

I had that case happen to me where I was travelling on work and got a first class upgrade on my second leg only and had two bags I needed to check.
