AA refund 737 MAX

Hi,

does anyone know if there's a way to get a refund? American Airlines reservations insisted there was no change allowed under the fare rules. I did explain that the passengers were anxious to travel on MAX and wished to travel on an earlier flight (non max)

any response greatly appreciated

The fare rules are the fare rules, unless AA has published an exception. AA only flies the MAX 8, which is not the model that had the problem with the exit door plugs. You will be fine.

I don't believe the waiver that was in place that allowed passengers to change off a 737 MAX flight for free during the first round of issues has been in effect for a while. The most recent issue doesn't impact the 737 MAX 8 since the MAX 8 doesn't have door plugs and AA doesn't have 737 MAX 9s (which do have door plugs and were the focus of the most recent issue).

A lot of AA fares do not have change fees. If domestic and non-BE, Cancel the flight, get a credit and use that to book something else.

That said, the MAX is perfectly safe. AA has been flying it for a long time now with no issues.
