I believe CBP preclearance at YVR is open until 23:30.
So with a 22:10 departure, this should not be an issue?

It's a seasonal route. people are going to Vancouver to catch their Alaskan cruises.

You are right. I thought it closes earlier. Thanks for the update.

Pretty sure AC ran their summer seasonal transcon routes (YVR-BOS, e.g.) with similar timings. You arrive the evening before the cruise and leave the same day your cruise gets back into town. Don't know if it works, but the idea is sound.

I personally hate the red-eyes though. Also hated YVR-DFW the few times I did it.

Is it seasonal? I know it starts in June, but I didnt see if it was announced as seasonal. To be clear, I fully expect it to be seasonal.

I'm sure people do this but it sounds risky and miserable. With a late evening departure, good chance you are hosed if the flight is cancelled. And ending the trip with a short redeye is awful

I do hope the route succeeds though. Wish AA Canada was stronger

AA's hubs just aren't great for Canada except for ORD, but the competitive situation there is really rough.

ORD and DFW work much better for connections than CLT, unless you live in Raleigh, I guess? CLT does have a lot of unique connections that ORD and even DFW don't have - so we'll see if they can fill the plane with that.

Yes, its going to be interesting to see what happens on the Salisbury/Ocean City-YVR and Lynchburg-YVR markets next summer.
