Paid upgrade on avios booking with cash?

Paid upgrade on avios booking with cash?
I've not flown American yet, if I made an economy avios redemption (no business available) but cash business seats were available do I have the option to pay a cash upgrade? If so is it a fixed priced or a bidding process?

If it's available, you would see it in your reservation in aa.com or on the AA app. But,I've never seen upgrade offers on award bookings though I see them with every single cash booking. The offer is dynamic and could change from one day to the next, up or down. Likely an algorithm constantly adjusting the offer based on loads and other data we're not privy to. AA doesn't have any upgrade bidding.

Given youve booked with avios, I assume youve booked this via BA but flight is operated by AA. Ive tried a few times to cash upgrade AA operated flights at JFK or LAX that I had booked (with cash) via BA and every tine been told there is no way to upgrade an AA-operated flight on a BA 125- stock ticket.
