Does Briggs Riley global carry on fit on AA 737?

Does Briggs Riley global carry on fit on AA 737? (BLU121CXSPW-4).

Some posts have said that it does not fit because the airline requires bags to be stored book style. Other posts say it’s fine. What’s your experience?

Dimensionally it’s almost the same as Tumi’s continental carryons. The missus carries that bag on regularly with no fuss.

It's what I use and I've never had an issue. Although, if you overstuff it a bunch (since it's expandable), it'll be a tight fit.

Why do you care if it fits or not in the bin laying on its narrow side?
If it is compliant (and by the measurements, it seems it is) and fits AA sizer, it will be fine, they can't force you to check it.

I have it and I've never had a problem. On occasion in some bins I've had to put it in flat rather than book style but nobody cares.

I've been using a Briggs "global" sized carryon for 7 or 8 years now. It fits just fine on every 737 I've been on, AA included of course.

Never had an issue with our "international" carryons, but they can expand, so that may make a difference. Haven't seen any FA change the orientation on it to fit other carry-ons. Depending on how much you've expanded it and how late you board, I suppose it could be an issue, but I still think it's unlikely.

Thanks everyone. It's one inch shorter and one inch wider than AA maximums. Other threads on here have said it doesn't fit on the new AA 737s where they force you to stack in "bookshelf" style, so I was worried. I fly a lot of international so need the international version because Air Canada checks a lot. Good to hear AA should be fine.

Because AA is forcing people to use the narrow side on some flights. Just flew last weekend (without the bag) and all six legs forced narrow side.

I still don't understand the concern.
Is the concern that your bag may fit too tight and will get damaged?
Or are you concerned that if doesn't fit "bookcase" style they will make you check it. They won't, it is size compliant (unless there is no more room at all, but that's a different story)

They're not "forcing" it. They've made the bins larger so that standard bags fit that way, and four or five people can get a suitcase into the same space. It's better for all but if yours doesn't fit that way, then it lies down as before.
