Paying on hold ticket for someone else

My wife put a ticket on hold 2 days ago as she was expecting the 70k miles from opening Barclays aviator. However, the miles might not be posted to her account in time, in that case, can I call AA and give them the PNR and ask them to charge the miles from my account and complete the purchase the ticket for her?

While logged into your own account, pull up the pnr and AA.com should pull the miles from your account.

Yep, it makes no difference what account you're logged into when you out a reservation on hold. All that matters is what account you're logged into when you purchase the ticket, which will be the account the miles are pulled from.

I learned it from FlyerTalk! It's come in handy over the years, especially when I'm trying to use up my mom or aunt's miles - I put the flights I want on hold and then go log into their accounts to pay.
