Not familiar with either airport, same amount of time, looking for most reliable/fewest problems/cancellations. Does AA have a bigger presence in BNA? Would that be an advantage?

From where to where?

Yes AA has a bigger presence in BNA vs BHM plus an Admirals Club if applicable.

But from a reliability or fewest problems/cancellations perspective for all intents and purposes they're going to be the same.

I would go BNA, larger airport with more connections. It also depends on the aircraft, I would pick mainline over regional, but the A319/320 fleet is prone to more maintenance issues in my experience.

Award travel, I'm guessing? Given your AA/AS status, I think that I would actually prefer the regional aircraft for these two, relatively short flights -- whether in Main Cabin Extra or in First.

I'd choose BNA just based on the AC and which city I'd rather be stuck in in the case of really bad IRROPS.

Ok, have another question...yes my husband is Gold with AA but since we live in EUG we pretty much fly AS all the time, so forgive my lack of AA knowledge. When he puts his AA number in an AS reservation we get Exit row and preferred seats on AS for free.

So correct me if I'm wrong...I thought Gold on AA got MCE seats for free on AA? Is that not true? I'm trying to make a reservation on the AA website and it wants money for any Orange seats. Is that right?

Does the BNA AC have its kitchen back? Last time I was in there they were out of food and drink and saying that due to renovations of the space, they would not have food or ice for a while. Very strange. Maybe I misinterpreted but it sure seemed to be that the bartender was implying the AC would have no fresh food, no ice, no water for some period of time.

Lack of food and beverage in the crowded, too small AC notwithstanding, it's certainly a larger AA operation than BHM and thus marginally better connect point.

I've connected through BNA a couple of times when it was the cheapest F miles award. Also go there on business.

It's correct. AAdvantage Golds get MCE seats for free starting at 24 hours before departure -- if any such seats still remain. If you have higher elite status with AS, and if you can somehow replace the AAdvantage number with the AS MVP number, then you should be able to select MCE seats for free at time of booking.

No, MCE is not free in advance for AA Golds. It's only free within the check-in window.

Golds also used to get 50% off MCE for purchase in advance (and complimentary access within 24 hours of departure), but the 50% discount went away in late 2018.

if you smoke, I think BNA has a paid smoking lounge/bar airside. Otherwise, BNA for more options in case of IRROPS.
