There is no point trying to credit to JL . Given that it was an AA marketed flight, it will send equiest to AA for credit which will be refused since the flight credit has been applied to AA

AA-marketed flights can be credited to JL or any AA-partner airlines. Its like me buying a AA-marketed or any other flight but operated by JL or another airline. These are still considered as oneworld flights as long as operating and marketing are in the oneworld alliance.

I had made the full intention to credit to JL as its a qualifying oneworld flight. At least even if I could not get AA to reverse the mileage and apply to JL, I should not give up before trying all available options.

Otherwise, this is indeed a lesson to not book the AA codeshare (which I only did because I had a flight credit from a cancelled flight in the past). I would definitely lose some total mileage but in any way, its a learning experience that others in the forum can learn about whether reversing or remove mileage accrual is possible.

At first, I wanted to give up after the first call. However, others said to try directly with JL, in which I will move forward with. The fact that the AAgent gave me a non-answer to not deal with this issue, is unfair, even though my intentions (the boarding passes should indicate enough) were to credit to JL rather than AA. Any possible solution can be considered (and most people on FT who might be in this situation would definitely try this, if they didnt get the appropriate mileage).

Of course it can be credited to JL, but if you just start with a missing credit request to JL they will attempt to credit the flight and bill AA for that credit. However, this flight was already credited to AAdvantage. While this is in error, AA will not have any context from a JL credit request to know that you are wishing to reverse the original credit. Rather, it will look like you are trying to double-credit the same flight on the sly - so AA will refuse the missing credit request. JL will then revert to you to say "this flight was already credited elsewhere". If you're lucky, they might explain unprompted that if you wish to credit to JL you need to get AA to reverse the original, probably they won't even do that until you call to ask. That all just leaves you back where you could have been at the start: calling AA again to get the original credit reversed.

I think there are schemes which will not allow credit reversal - Flying Blue being one IIRC - but I don't know if AAdvantage is one. I suspect it is possible to reverse the credit though I note no-one has posted a positive confirmation. If it is, it's almost certainly rare enough that most agents and even supervisors won't have done it - which is why you are unfortunately having to HUACA until you get someone who has.

Note I think OP should be able to get the AA credit reversed, and the miles credit to JL, because at least in the reasonable real, non-airline world that was obviously his intention so please don't think I'm saying AA is in the right on this in anyway.

But here's what I think might've happened here:

From what I understand there are actually two different places in the backend where your FF number goes in a record. So it's possible to have for example your BA number in there in one place, and your AA number in another place (something like booking using BA miles but putting your AA number in there for status benefits). I'm going to guess that when the OP changed his FF via QR, it only got changed in one place in the backend, despite it appearing to him that it was changed to his JL number.

I think at least one of the reservation systems has four fields - benefits, credit, which programme paid and another I can't remember. I'm not sure any airline front ends expose more than one of the fields to the customer, and you're almost certainly right that this is the cause of OP's issue.

.
They can be credited to any scheme - what is not permitted is to credit it to more than one scheme. Since it has been credited to AA, any attempt to request made to JL to credit to JL will be rejected by AA since flights have already been credited to AA.

It sounds like your FF number was put into the AA reservation when made through AA. You made changes at the QR ebd but not at the AA booking. It reads like the AA reservation would still have had the AA membership number and it was correctly credited there. Unless AA is prepared to reverse this transaction, then there is no point trying to claim to JL. If AA is prepared to cancel the credit , then indeed you can then request credit to JL

I have good news and an update!

After initially speaking to a normal AAgent, I got transferred to a supervisor! The supervisor noted that I was indeed able to reverse the flight credit and I specifically asked if I can "reverse the AA credit and then transfer over to JL's FFP #.

The supervisor said that that should be no problem, and she asked me for my JL FFP #. She then said that she would initiate the transfer process to credit from AA to JL! She specified that the process can take up to 2 weeks, and I should reach back to AA if I do not notice anything on JL's end. I have the LP and AA miles removed from my account information page as well.

Thank you to everyone that gave me suggestions, advice, and notes to avoid this mistake next time
