Book connections in PHL or PHX and you'll have a legitimate reason to run in the terminal.

It's probably way more trouble than it's worth but you could always Uber to the start of the Schuylkill River Trail and run along that. Would be under 30 minutes each way (closer to 20 really).
I think this is the best option if the connection time was a bit longer...too far IMO with a 4h connection. |

In a world where SEPTA ran usable airport service, you could also take the train to the University City stop as a launching point.

It's not free but a gym just opened that's $25 and has showers. It's probably way more trouble than it's worth but you could always Uber to the start of the Schuylkill River Trail and run along that. Would be under 30 minutes each way (closer to 20 really). |

Come towards the end of September and you can run in the PHL 5K and run on the runway!
|
Consider grabbing a cab over to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Just 5 min away from the airport via car but provides a proper escape and feels like you're in nature. Would be GREAT for running. Highly recommend if you've got a few hours.

Or instead of a run just a nicely paced walk.
I had a 6 hr. layover back in January and wanted to get some exercise so decided to set the timer and GPS, almost 1.5 miles from the end of A to the end of F... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c211f44e27.jpg |
Too late for the OP, but Minute Suites airside at PHL have showers. It’s a Priority Pass lounge, but Priority Pass users need to pay $20 for a shower.

Well worth the easy effort to get there and enjoy ten miles of trails to explore. Just opposite of 95 as it passes PHL.
