When do Loyalty points post on airfare purchases
Am I correct that the number of Loyalty Points for AA Platinum is 8x the dollars spent on airfare? (spend $1000 on airfare, get 8000 Loyalty Points?)
If I purchase airfare through aa.com, do the Loyalty Point multipliers show up in your account when you purchase the flight or not until the flight has been completed? I spent about $2000 on airfare in April but only received the Loyalty Points from the credit card purchase (AA Aviator from Barclays) of 1:1. When does the Platinum 8:1 show up? Thanks in advance for any clarification on this. |
They show up after you fly and it's only on the base fare excluding taxes and fees.

Here’s the correct link for earning on AA: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/...n-airlines.jsp

I’ve removed some inaccurate content, and replies thereto, just to be sure people aren’t confused about LP and mile earning.

The LP's post after each leg of a trip is completed. You'll only earn LP and RDM for completed flights.
IE: You bought a ticket where the base fare is $1,000 for a R/T DFW-ORD-DFW. After flying DFW-ORD you'll receive a portion of the LP and RDM, then after flying ORD-DFW you'll receive the remaining LP and RDM totaling 8k (as a Platinum). |
