AA Upgrade Emails
AA has sent me several emails over the past few months about upgrading ("Purchase an upgrade for your upcoming flight to XX") my booked coach flights. The email includes a button to "Upgrade Now". But when you click on it, you just bring up your reservation on aa.com. Nothing to click to upgrade.
Anyone else receiving these? How is it that they expect you to upgrade your flight? I'm not getting it. What am I missing? I tried looking on the app too. Nothing about upgrading my flights for cash... |
I just got the same thing for a flight in 3 days. But what really pisses me off is that I am EXP and yesterday was 100 hours before flight, and they are still trying to sell upgrades now to me at 62 hours before the flight. Time to stop chasing elite status with AA
|
I got one today after I was already upgraded at the 100 hour window. I chalked it up to poor AA IT.
|
These emails are spam. Ignore them. Or do as I've done and turn off as much AA promo email as you can in your AA profile.

 |
That's usually where an upgrade offer will appear - if one is available - but there are a number of circumstances where the upgrade isn't offered and I don't think their IT is sophisticated enough to not send you an email in those circumstances.

status perks if your not going to honor them.. somehow without I actually made EXP, but without the tension |
Haven't seen those emails, typically I have the option in the app to upgrade before the 100 hour window as an EP. Fortunately, I have been hitting domestic upgrades around 90% so far this year. Probably helps that my home airport is OMA.

On a related topic, on my flights this week, I was not upgraded as an EP even at T-24. When I checked the upgrade waitlist on both flights, there were 2 available seats in FC. It seems like in the past there was usually 1 (or 0) seats available. I was curious if this was a change by AA to hold back more seats for selling of last minute upgrades.
|
I received same this week, with same result (no upgrade actually available for purchase).
I also got discounted upgrade offers ($97) right after booking on two recent bookings, which then never appeared again. I was regretting not taking one on the outbound, but all turned out okay, as I scored the comp upgrade at T-72 as AS 75K.

I have been on several J7 flights lately where my EXP upgrade didn't clear until T-30 or so.
|
I get those all the time. I've never been able to click through to a purchase option. My solution was to create a rule and send them to the trash. I'm not buying TODs anyhow, I don't spend a $ that doesn't accrue LPs.
