Your 2 bags are on the way but I didn't check bags

This is showing on my flight info for today. I just flew Columbus to charlotte. However I haven’t checked a bag since the Obama administration.

Is someone not going to see their bags today?

If I had to guess, I wonder if these were checked at the gate, where in my experience the gate agent typically only asks for a seat number. I wonder if the passenger who checked them gave the agent the wrong seat number or the agent mistyped it.

Clearly a Southwest passenger that got confused.

Glad to see that they were properly scanned on unload from the plane in CLT.

Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking of the security breach.

Probably a mistagged bag. Not sure how AA's computer system works but there could have been another passenger with a similar last name to yours, and the AAgent picked the wrong name from a list. If this is the case, hope the other passenger had the same final destination as you

I was on the opposite end of this a few weeks back. I checked a bag, saw the right airport but did t check the name. I didn’t see “your bags are on the way” message, so I pulled out the claim ticket I was given and it had a different name, not even close to mine.

I think the ticket agent used seat number when checking in the bag and mistyped or misread my online boarding pass. The other pax didn’t check a bag (I checked his PNR) so he probably didn’t even know it.
