20% Loyalty Point bonus

  • Unlock 20% Loyalty Point bonus when you spend with select partners within 6 months of unlocking this reward

Anybody know what those "select partners" are? Can't find it on the site

I really wish this would just last through the year, the % bonus with partners. It seems silly that anyone would LP rush based on that 6 month timer unless there were some major purchase that was planned on through the eshopping mall or AA vacations. I would actually prefer a yearlong 10% bonus over a 6 month 20% bonus. Really wondering why they chose to structure it this way, but... *shrug* #FirstWorldProblems, I guess.

There’s a bump from 20% to 30% depending on Loyalty points.

Agree, there’s a rush to achieve the 20% — then you have some time till 30%.

Looks like the terms say it’s active for the next 185 days — no mention of qualifying year! Good news for a bump into the next (year).

Hmm, haven’t thought about that - but if it is valid for 185 - can the 30% then overlap? And thanks for finding that. I could not find it on AA.com - I am passing the 60K today so this is timely.

Guess I really should look at the hotels thing.

Most definitely you should 💡
might not (likely won't) get hotel program elite status perks/benefits/credit for your hotel stays, but domestically that's easy to forgo in exchange for AA lps, at least for me

Crossed over from 20% to 30% bonus via a 12,000 LP on BAAH. So does AA apply the 30% to the LP portion of that reservation that exceeded 100,000. In other words, if I was at 98,000 LP before hotel stay, does the 20% apply to the full 12,000 or is it 2,000 at 20% then 10,000 at 30%? Spoke to AAdvantage desk and they did not know but were running issue up through support. Meanwhile I have other BAAH reservations which still show 20% after I clearly passed the 100,000. Maybe it's just an issue with all of these BAAH miles posting together after a trip?

My respective earnings that took me over 20% and 30% both posted with the new bonus amount. Others have reported otherwise, especially in the BAAH/RM thread. Unfortunately the responses from AA have mostly been that youre not supposed to get the higher bonus but they cant say where theyre getting that info.

Keep your 20%, I'd like to unlock saver awards with meaningful availability again.

Next time American comes knocking for my tax $$$ that's what I'll ask for.

Sounds like I have some math to do. I don’t hugely care about more than 250K for the year. I’d rather get Star Alliance Gold somewhere than getting to 400K on AA. I am Titanium for life on Marriott, but I do like to get to 75 nights (including promo nights) for the 10 suite upgrades.

The 20% isn't even redeemable miles, it's just additional LPs to help you with status.

How does the 20% LP bonus actually post? Is it automatically added to each individual qualifying partner activity, or does it post separately (either at the same time or in some periodic process)?

Looks like it posts with the individual post to Activity as normal.

I earned 168 miles on this purchase but 218 LPs (I am at the 30% Bonus Level already).

It's automatically attached - single transaction. The transaction will show award miles as normal and then LP as 1.2x that value (or 1.3x after you pass 100k LP).
