81.5k for one-way F DCA-BOS on an E75!

Who would actually pay that? I mean, seriously.....
Try for DC-Boston-Augusta/Rochester/BUF or something like that. It is sometimes cheaper in miles than DCA-BOS.

At least partner redemptions seem safe for now.

This is like a tsunami were the first wave is just the beginning. It took DL a while to crack down on partner redemptions after it went “dynamic”, but DL got there too quickly from my perspective. AA will likely be able to get there quicker nowadays.

AA’s got a whole bunch of that YQ revenue coming in from mileage tickets for BA’s TATL flights, and so it will be interesting to see what AA does to choke off the “escape routes” to try to get away from AA’s devaluation monster.

Beside devaluation of them, not much beyond that. AAs got a big, fat YQ goose in the mileage ticket picture that means AA has a somewhat different balancing act to pull off with regard to partner flights than has happened with other programs that have gone dynamic.

Flight award tickets don’t allow changes, but you can cancel and reinstate your miles at no charge. <<< oh nice.

But when there are schedule changes you can at least rebook, I assume, otherwise this would be really messed up.

Ouch. Glad I booked our tickets when I did. SJD-ALB on 10/8 I snagged for 60k in F. Now they are ALL 95k. For comparison, UA wanted 135k and DL wanted 125k (but once I login I believe UA went down to 125k and DL went down the 15%). However, UA for that flight date only had 12+ hour flights (overnights). DL had a one-stop (SJD-ATL-ALB) but still was almost double what AA wanted. Well, until now.

Same here. I can't even remember the last time I used AA miles for long-haul international flights. Domestic redemptions are much better.

Long-hauls for me are buying Y and using an SWU, or just buying J to Asia via SQ as they are usually under $5k roundtrip.

That's ostensibly a more challenging endeavor for them from a technical standpoint because tmk partners don't charge them for seats on a dynamic basis (i.e. they use a fairly simple transfer pricing formula instead). I suppose there are ways to skin that beast though.

BA where you might as well pay 90% of the cash price in surcharges doesn't really count here arguably...
