We are all hoping you have found a way to mint 28,000 redeemable miles for spending $30 for one day's interest .
You just have to forgive that we're mostly a skeptical group who are afraid this may not turn out the way you think it will.
Definitely let us know how all this works out

reading through some terms I can see no early payment penalty so in theory can pay it back immediately and likely incur one months interest. Around 8% so works out to be $186 or 0.67 cents per mile. (Edited)

what is not clear is does this count as loyalty points? Anyone have experience with it?

what about how long it takes to post? Chances of being done and collecting points before year end next month?
is this on the barclays mobile app? android or ios?
I just checked on android app on "offers" and no dice

barclays app on iOS. Offer has been available for well over six months. changing between explicitly saying miles to bonus miles back to miles. I will be surprised if it is actually LP.

interest charges update:
  • Day 1 $6.89. Amount owing $28,006.89. $28k appeared in my bank account.
  • Day 2 initiated payment of $27k.
  • Day 3 total amount owing $1007.13.
On Monday I will initiated another $900 payment. Leaving the remainder to come out on the scheduled auto payment day. This should ensure interest charges are kept super low. Worth it for the bonus miles, and who knows i am optimistic i may get LP too ...

Update Day 6 (Monday Jul 17)
Total interest charges to date: $7.63
Initiated another payment of $900. Time to sit tight and wait a month for points to transfer.

Update

Update day ??

total interest charges: $8.00

Email received with points being transferred over to my Barclays credit card miles. Email says miles. I have to wait till my billing cycle on 12 august for miles to transfer to American Airlines.

in the app I cannot see if they are miles or bonus miles yet. They are in the same bucket.

stay tuned.

Shortest, but it makes no difference if you lay it off promptly.

no early payment penaltys so means you can repay and collect points for minimal interest

You definitely got a unicorn here. A shame there's no LPs (of course we all knew the outcome would exclude loyalty points) but that's a pretty cheap way to manufacture 28,000 miles, congratulations and thanks for sharing

Curious about this. Also not seeing offer like this on my Barclays app or when I log into account from desktop. Do you do other banking with Barclays or is it just the Aviator credit card? Also, any idea where the $28K number came from? Finally, did the miles post strictly as RDMs or did you get LPs as well? Thx!

Trashing your credit for a paltry 28,000 AA miles? Brilliant.

Respectfully, getting $28k of credit and paying it off will by no means "trash" one's credit. Minor ding from a pull and a new account, the new account will go away when it's closed. NBD.
