Oof. That beats my record. AA emailed me in early August telling me my post-Thanksgiving flight had changed by TWO minutes. Oh, and the flight number changed.

Not sure if this should be here or an BA forum since its ticketed by BA even though it is AA metal but since this thread is already open, there is lots going on with AA plane swaps lately and BA ticket is not keeping up.

Example I have a BA ticketed flight which LHR-JFK-MIA are in AA metal in a month or so. LHR-JFK plane have been swapped now from 777-300 to 700-200 and our row 4 seats have changed to row 1 seats without any information whatsoever. It also looks like this is the plane where seats alternate looking forward and backward and row is is backward looking. Going to wait patiently to check in time and see what plane it shows by then and see what seats are available.

The JFK-MIA flight have been changed 3? times already. First it went from 737-MAX to 737-800 to different 737-800 and ofcourse seat maps are not alike so the current BA seats I have ticketed are not even available on current plane. AA have changed my seats there as well although looking at SeatGuru it is a wrong plane/layout currently in AA site as well. The flight time also changed 2h later and then 1-2h later again and I called BA&AA and end result was that I was back on my original timing?!? altough they tried to offer me a seat on plane that leaves hour before I land from LHR which I had to remind them. Then they were, ok this is next available is that ok and I said yes, it is what I originally had but which you told was canceled and for that reason I was moved 2h later but if it is back in rotation then yes, I am happy with that connection... oh and I cant change seats to those AA flights in BA site as the transfer doesnt work (it doesnt recognize BA number) and I cant change JFK-MIA seats as I have actually it twice in AA site, same time with 2 different seat assignments :P

Seems AA is bit like TK. You know what plane you have when you board it.

I have tried to adjust my business class expectations to really low but I am pretty sure I will be disappointed still. Thats what flying QR business does for you I suppose.

Don’t use seat guru. It’s often wrong!

For accurate seat maps use www.aerolopa.com which was created by a number of FT members.

If you have the AA operated flights shown in the AA app then you already have the AA PNR and don’t need to go via BA to change seats etc

sounds like BA (who you bought the flights with) need to force through a re ticketing to get AA app to update.

This is why I always use one of the third party apps such as CheckMyTrip, they always send alerts for any changes.

And the reservation was changed again. This time I didn't lose any flights but my SEA-LHR-MAD just changed to SEA-DFW-LHR-MAD adding 5 hours to my trip and making my connection tighter at LHR. There's a BA direct flight leaving at 8pm to LHR, no idea why they added the connection. With the direct flight I'm in London an hour earlier and I leave 4 hours later from SEA.

Anyway, just called them and spent 45 minutes on the phone while watching the Bengals/Bills game. My call was dropped for some reason while they were fixing it (the machine said it was sorry and reconnected me) and I had to start from scratch when they reconnected me. When the new agent tried to fix it, he said he couldn't do it because it appeared someone had locked it--maybe the previous agent working on it. But then the outbound flight was finally fixed by us taking the BA flight. Too bad I can't select my seat now. Well, better than wasting 5 hours at the airport and having a tighter connection.

Edit: my guess is that they canceled AA 156 and moved everyone to go through DFW since the BA flight can't take the load. When I changed it, it only had 3 business class tickets left. I guess people will find out late and won't be able to get the BA flight.

seat guru is less and less useful. If your 737 is on AA, the seating has almost all been standardized. I think I read somewhere that the last 737 was about to go in for retrofit.

F is now rows 1-4 instead of 3-6, and the economy is the lovely new oasis sardine can configuration.

I think that the 321s, except the fleet marked 321T which mostly serve west coast to JFK, are also all the same now.

It used to be really a headache that aircraft models Thad multiple seat configurations, which could mess up your seat selection. I suppose they could still swap a 737 and 321, but it has not been my experience that it happens often.
