I saw the writing on the wall with the latest "enhancements" and "simplifications" - just the other day I was seeing 150k TATL awards in F. As long as they don't read this and get rid of the Etihad award chart I'll be happy, although I'm sure that's on the list.

600K to Europe? Effectively makes AA miles 100% worthless.

I regularly check awards to/from SE Asia and the West coast. I see no real difference in availability and price in these tickets today compared to 2 months ago.

Still mostly 37.5k economy awards. Like 98%. Some PE awards for 50k. Little to no business class awards. I see some scattered 110k F awards, most needing a transfer between NRT and HND. Not too practical.

As a thread pointed out recently, most dynamic awards in their recent announcement only applied to AA metal. Luckily, we used most of our AA miles last year for last Mays trips. 12-14 months ago, biz awards seemed fairly plentiful.

If you were willing to pay 300k, then going to 600k won't matter much to you. Worst case scenario the miles are worth 50% less, not 100% worthless!

Anyhow, it's just a few more trips to Walmart, etc. for a bunch of people around FT... (which helps explain why everybody now needs 600k miles)

AA clearly does not want award travel on its metal on widebody aircraft. By contrast, you can fly caribbean routings for 20,000 and 25,000 miles. These are to airports where the fare is $500 - $800 round trip, So, excellent redemption rates.

AA has gotten just like Delta and made their miles virtually worthless on international travel. I booked a short trip to Germany on about 7-days advance purchase, and the business class fare was $3,400 OR 352,000 miles. That was before this announcement, basically on short-notice milage redemption is .01cent/mile or less. Now it is down in the .005cent/mile area just like Delta.

Shhh, this has been the best deal going for the past year or two. I have taken at least a dozen caribbean flights at 25k RT from Miami. Turks and Caicos, Aruba etc always price out at 25k even one or 2 days before the flight

It used to be 300k miles US-India - just a few months ago, now 600k for 8-9 months out in 2023 in business

It is ridiculous

Im glad I used up 1,000,000+ points a few months ago to book 3 tickets to India

I have 360,000 points left and not sure what to do with them

I am done with AA/OW and have moved on to SQ

Is this confirmed? Ive seen this 78k number a lot recently, would be good to know that it correlates with SWU availability.

It would not be a nonstop, but nobody says that you have to redeem AA miles on AA metal to get to India in Business Class:

(You do have to make sure that aa.com is not displaying phantom availability on partners.)
