Business Partner vs. Oneworld Codeshare
Booked paid J DFW>LHR>IST on December 25. Would like to reroute to avoid LHR due to the border force strikes. There is an Industrial Action travel alert for LHR on the AA website for my travel date. Called the Executive Platinum desk to ask about being routed through Doha on QR or Amman on RJ because I think there is a lower chance of weather delays or strikes if I go through the Middle East. EP desk says I can only rebook with Business Partners- Iberia, Finnair, or BA. They are encouraging voluntary rebooks for my flight specifically to avoid LHR, but they have no other options that don't go through LHR. (??) Is this a case where I should HUCA or am I stuck? My travel date isn't flexible. Thank you for your advice!

I doubt AA will book you on QR... AY might be a option... I know that have a DEF to HEL flight..
best you tell AA what you are looking for rather then leaving it AA... I have a AA/BA flight on the 26Th thru LHR with a onward flight.. going to wait to see what happens in a day or two.. the action at LHR should not affect those in transit... but LHR has been asking airlines to limit passengers flow |
You can HUCA, but when I look at matrix.itasoftware, com with only MAD, HEL, DOH, AMM showing as valid routings I only see HEL and DOH as options on the results page. If they won't reroute you after escalation, then will they offer full refund so you can just book it yourself? Not sure what you paid, but QR in J is coming in at $3348. AY is over $10K!
