Angry unable to check in online (merged threads)

Hello,

I just started flying exclusively with American after I moved to CLT and just made Gold last week,
I'm trying to checkin into my flight and I'm getting the following error below. It's from CLT to MSY so a demonstric flight and not international, I called the AA desk and they don't know why I would be getting an error. They did a "review" and i got a new email from checkin now, i did and same issue. Tried with iPhone, iPad and Website.

Please check in with an agent at the airport
Were unable to check you in online.
Thank you. It's an early morning flight and I really dont want to be there 2hrs+ ahead... that's brutal.

While I can't answer your question about why you can't check in online, there is a small consolation: as Gold, you can use the priority check-in line at the airport, which should save some significant time.

I suspect you've been SSSS'd.

Yeah, probably SSSS. You should show up with plenty of time, not because of AA, but because of the rubber-glove treatment you'll be getting from TSA at the security checkpoint.

It's a domestic flight... I also paid for Main Plus just so I can avoid stupid delays...

Do you mean Main Cabin Extra? That doesn't expedite your TSA screening anyway. It just gets you Group 5 boarding, but since you're Gold you'll get group 4. You also would have had free MCE seat selection at 24 hours prior to flight, if available. Also - recommend you call and ask them to drop and re-add your AA number if you booked your trip *BEFORE* you became Gold. If you booked after, then your status should properly reflect.

And you don't have to get to the airport 2 hours before you normally would have. Maybe 30 minutes. Stop at the check in counters and they'll probably be able to fix it quick.

Doesn't matter. SSSS is for both domestic and international flights. Buying better seats won't prevent being SSSS'd, on any carrier.

Just FYI, Main Plus is a bundled fare offering by AA in a number of markets.

I think those with PreCheck can also still get SSSS'd, although I imagine it's less likely but don't have any actual data points to validate that.

iPhone/iPad/Chrome/Edge => Please Check In at the airport. We're unable to check you in online

Firefox => Checkin goes to the page below lol => https://www.aa.com/reservation/passe...tailsSubmit.do

This page must have taken flight

A world of possibilities is within your reach

This is correct, even with Global Entry (which includes PreCheck) I have still gotten SSSS.
