I believe theyre referring to the priority line at the ticket counter. Because of your status, you should be able to get to an agent, or kiosk, to get your boarding pass quicker.

If this truly is SSSS and not just an AA glitch, dont let this discourage you from TSA PreCheck. Its absolutely worth it and your chance of SSSS with TSA PreCheck are very low, just not 0%

Check that your booking has a ticket number associated with it and that the issued ticket is in alignment with the currently confirmed flight(s) on the booking, including with regard to dates on the flights you intend to take.

A misalignment between ticket info and flights on the booking and ticket number-related issues are the leading causes for the inability to get passengers checked in online for domestic flights on domestic-only itineraries. Way down the list are identity-related and charge card verification. HaraSSSSment hits inhibiting online checkin on domestic-only itineraries are a possibility but it’s not been a leading cause for inhibiting our check-ins on domestic-only itineraries in quite some time.

Forgot about that. I remember reading about it, but I've never seen it offered on flights I've booked (all out of PHL). But now that I read up on it, it's just a bundled fare that adds Main Cabin Extra, free checked bag and group 5 boarding for no additional fees. Well, no more than the additional "fee" that they tacked onto the fare. It still wouldn't expedite the checkin or TSA process.

And as a Gold, the OP would have already had those benefits *AND* be able to board in group 4. They just would have had to wait until T-24 hours before flight to try to get an MCE seat. To each their own....

Pre-Check/Global Entry are some of the best relatively-small money we ever spent. Usually a shorter line. My SSSS experiences dropped to near zero since. (But I'm sure since I said that I'll get the magic wand tomorrow).

We picked them up shortly after the program started. I stumbled over a open slot at DFW just days away. Mrs.Jayer could not get a local slot, and ended up doing a turn to Albuquerque just to get an interview quickly. (The point being: If you travel enough to earn organic gold, then check your less-busy, non-hub destinations for available interview slots). Saved her months getting in.

You will be surprised how much they already know about your travel history. My guy was really quite friendly, but I was surprised when he asked about stops in Canada I'd made several years ago. Totally forgotten about them. Booked just because they were better connections for last-second trips from Texas to or from the US east coast.

It is especially helpful since the AA Barclay card (at least the one that I have) gives a statement credit to offset the fee. It was a pain to initially get it, and the US Barclay card did not offer the statement credit, but it was definitely money well spent. When I renewed a few years ago, it was a breeze, and a pleasant surprise to basically get it for free.

I assume the OP has now flown. Do we know what the actual cause of this was?

Got the dreaded "Unable to check-in" for my upcoming flight JFK-CDG, with SWU waitlisted:
Please check in with an agent at the airport
Were unable to check you in online.

Called the AA EXP line, they said the ticket looked fine.

weird....

I wouldn't worry. My wife & I had the exact same thing 3 days with our CDG-PHL flights with SWU waitlisted. No problem checking in at the airport and the boarding passes then showing up in our apps. I have had this on other international flights with SWUs waitlisted in the past as well.

Flying tomorrow on a domestic flight and got the can't check in online flag. First time happening for me (on hundreds of AA flights) and it's my first time travelling with my new employer (and they booked it). Called AA just to make sure and the slightly uninterested agent didn't seem to see any problems with the reservation.

I normally travel with just my first and last name but my booking has my two middle names on it. That coupled with my KTN and I wonder if that's throwing things off.

Edit with update: Got to the airport a bit early but didnt seem to have any real issues. Agent at JFK Flagship checkin tapped away a bit, asked for my KTN as apparently that got scrubbed somehow (despite it being against my companys profile with Amex and adding it on AA.com after I booked). Took a few minutes, got TSA PreCheck. All good and could access mobile BP on the app at that time too. Lets see how it works when I fly home on Friday.
