View From The Wing is reporting today that the experiment is over and AA decided to keep the 24 hour hold. https://viewfromthewing.com/american...rvation-holds/

Yes, I noticed lately the Hold is now back. I'm not sure what AA was "experimenting with" or "why." I would presume most infrequent flyers wouldn't know about the option. No possibly it was being abused by those that did but how big were the numbers?

Scuttlebutt on the blogs was that the inability to apply trip credits to flights on hold was causing extra volume for the phone agents. Rather than fixing the inability to apply trip credits, AA was thinking about eliminating the hold feature. Thankfully they decided to keep it.
