I'm guessing there's not much of a sense of fun at American airlines these days to appreciate humor like this (not to mention all of the disruptions to schedules).
While it was cool to learn about the other Easter eggs, sadly I think, regarding 1492/1776/777, the newer generation is just lacking in history. Or dumber.

At least Amazon is still keeping up the tradition of hidden meanings - all their fleet of aircraft have prime numbers as their N-number.

It was a commercial viability study flight for the eventual LIT-NRT launch.

And you're basing this on the fact that some likely not newer generation people changed flight numbers?

America West used to fly BWI-LAS flt # 777


Finnair had flight 666 from CPH-HEL It last flew Friday the 13th 2017.
