Didn't this exact same glitch happen another time within the past few years? From my hazy memory, I seem to think the previous instance of the trip-dropping glitch might have been around a major holiday?

This same thing happened before Christmas 2017. AA fixed that issue by paying 1.5x normal to pick up dropped trips. Will be interesting to see if that works this time.

I thought this all sounded very familiar. And happy to see my memory was correct with regards to the previous incidence impacting a holiday.

According to the Allied Pilots Association twitter account:

The APA Board of Directors has ratified an agreement that provides:
Permanent double pay for specific holiday periods
Permanent deletion of premium offset for sick hours used in the same month
Triple pay to pilots who fly a July sequence affected by Saturdays glitch

Looks like Robert Isom shoveled out some money to correct that mistake.

What does the second bullet point mean? What's premium offset for sick hours?

Lets say I picked up a 10 hour 2 day trip at premium (double pay) early in the month which now pays 20 hours.

Later in the month I come down with COVID or have to call out sick for something. I would lose the 10 hours of premium pay I received from the trip I previously picked up.
