PHL will be the test case. If TSA can enforce local laws, I guess airport staff could call in a TSA officer to escort someone from the premises. Philadelphia Police are sometimes at the airport but I can't see them becoming involved unless a passenger becomes belligerent. My guess is there are very few teeth at PHL, except maybe in the restaurants.

Seems that in first, you're fine with no mask.
In the main cabin, people are still wearing them.

No I suspect this is more largely to do with the fact it's SFO. I wouldn't expect the same with say an ex-MIA route!

I agree. If even a small fraction of people aren't wearing one walking around, they simply cannot arrest everyone breaking the unlawful ordinance (local law enforcement). I wouldn't worry one bit. Worst case, you walk around with a cup in your hand .

Having to pay for the tests is intensely annoying. Some very very vested interests would have them test us until the cows come home.

TSOs are not law enforcement officers. A TSO could presumably walk non-belligerent people out of the secure area though.

,,,the PDB and Mechanical combo killed it for me, LOL. Old times indeed!

Just came off a flight from LAX to LHR. Captain announced Monday evening before departure that masks were optional. Almost all F and J passengers, and more than half the flight attendants weren't wearing them. Such a relief!

what about the airports though? Are they governed by the same rule as the airlines were? Are people walking around maskless at DFW today?

Yes this entire mandate covered airport themselves also, though what would be interesting is if a local state mandate could then supersede the lack of a federal mandate? I suspect some states might put this to the test, though onboard is again covered by Federal law.

This is great news. I've been grounded for 6 weeks because of eye surgery but I'll be back in a month and can't wait. I'll have to update my "push the flight attendant button" pic to reflect the sans mask status.

Onboard AA's JFK-SNA service right now. Not hassled at all in either the terminal, TSA line, or Flagship Lounge for not wearing a mask. the FA and most of the J cabin are not wearing masks either.

And it looks like masks are now optional on Uber. I have a trip to NYC tomorrow. Trying to think of a reason to take a mask.

At PHX now, and a good 95% of people are maskless.
