While that's true, the NJ Transit train dumps you right in downtown, walking distance to just about everything with shuttles to the casinos. ACY is still going to require an uber to the beaches/casinos.

I’m thinking AA is trying to capture the market that already lives in the AC area to bring them to PHL for continued flights versus making AC a destination.

If the JetBlue - Spirit purchase is approved and JetBlue continues the spirit operations at AC, will there be much of a need for this if the partnership continues? AA could just as well do more codeshares.

The sterile transport sounds similar to what the cruiselines used to do in Vancouver BC to/from the airport so you wouldn't be considered as entering Canada.

Perhaps, you can bring your own foods from the concession or retail shops. You can bring it on the bus.

ABE is my preferred airport for visiting family. When price/schedule don't work it is PHL, with transit and a private vehicle pickup. Depending on connection time I am open to Landline. From what I understand of the MSP operation it is not secure, just covered if you miss your flight.

There used to be jitney service from the airport to the AC, but it ended during the pandemic. Anyways, yes you are right, you'll need uber or taxi service. But it's still a lot less than uber or taxi from PHL to the casinos, or being dependent on a rental car (where rates are high now).

I think the bus ride from ACY to PHL on most days would be faster than train with all its stops, detour loop through N Philly and then 30th Street station.

That routing is, unfortunately, a limitation of the century+ old Pennsylvania Railroad. We'll never see a maglev from center city PHL directly down to AC via the 42 freeway and AC Expressway.

In fact, Amtrak used to run that route many years ago. Not profitable even for a quasi government operated entity. You don't see NJTransit rail servicing any other PA stations either. This was the result of some kind of deal made when Amtrak dropped the route years back.

I'll say it again - most people flying AA on this kind of route with a PHL - ACY bus connection will not have AC as their destination. They will be AC area customers who originated their trip there and opt to do this if they can't get/pay for a ride to PHL or want to park their car. Given that AA hasn't served AC (ever?), this may be a brief experiment.

I was wondered if they add bus service from PHX to Tucson, Flagstaff, Show Low, Prescott, Cottonwood, Yuma, Kingman and a few other city, as well. They won't take a flight. Because it's short flight. Will they ever consider it??

It hasn't been that fun of a flight either. I've done it several times, on a DH9. Quite loud.

I grew up in Northeast PA, and much prefer to fly to AVP or ABE when I visit...if for no other reason than on the return trip not having to deal with check-in and security at PHL (plus turnpike, rental cars, getting gas, etc.) There is a Sam's Club with fairly reasonably priced gas just across US-22 from ABE, and I've filled up there on nearly every trip. No toll roads in the ABE area (of course the northeast extension of the PA turnpike is, but could be avoided).

It looks like I'll be visiting twice this summer, and both times the schedule seems to work better to fly through ORD or CLT into AVP.


I've used the CO ABE-EWR bus, but it was ages ago, back when it was still CO. I thought we still had to go through security at EWR, but I really don't remember. I did check-in at ABE, got a boarding pass, and even got miles for that leg.

Yes. It still exists. EWR-ABE is the route. Unlike this newly announced service/downgauge, the United service is not sterile, but bags can be checked through on either end.

That ended in late 2020. That was a codeshare that they inherited from Continental that involved through ticketing to/from New Haven, CT, Stamford, CT, Philadelphia, PA, and Wilmington, DE.
