Starting March 1, 2022, once you qualify for Loyalty Choice Rewards, you can choose your reward any time between the date you qualify and March 30, 2023. This gives you the flexibility to decide when to choose your reward, based on when you want to use it.

For example, if you qualify in May 2022, your membership year is valid through February 2024. That means you’ll have until March 30, 2023, to choose your reward. If you have more than one reward choice, you can choose one after qualifying and the other later, or both rewards later. It’s up to you.

Ready to select your rewards?

Once you’ve qualified for Loyalty Choice Rewards, you’ll receive an email and will see your choices in your wallet.

The reward I chose for this year (had to choose by 12/30) was the 25,000 miles with the 5,000 bonus for having an AA branded credit card (I'm PP). I got the 25,000 miles deposited almost right away yesterday but the 5,000 for the credit card has still not been deposited. My AA credit card is connected to my AA account (one of the cards, anyway).

I read through the T & C's and didn't see anything that states there was a wait for the credit card miles. Anyone else choose the miles? Were they all deposited at the same time?

Thanks in advance

I chose the 15% reward as I booked just one way 215 k F to London for dfw and I. Wished I could have used RT but we are coming back from cph at 57.5 so not usable on multi city . Also chose the level 2 25 k awards for both posted immediately not sure what I’ll do with level 3 probably miles too.

Thanks! My bad - I thought it was 25,000 plus another 5,000. Totally read that wrong. Ignore my earlier post

Dammit. I just chose the 15% award discount and instantly regretted the decision. T&C says nothing about when it expires but evidently it expires 1 year from selection.

Caveat emptor

it does state that it expires in 1 yr and you must get reward before you book the travel. Call aa to have discount applied after travel

Do you think AA will give me any problems using 15% cert for multi-city LAX-HKG-AKL? I guess it's technically not roundtrip but it's all on same carrier and was able to book online on one record locator.

I don’t think multi city trips are allowed for the certificate

Also, it really doesn’t say anything about 1 year expiration. System-wide upgrade award has a nice clear message stating that it expires after 1 year. The discount award says noth8ng.

in your wallet if you click on the i information icon for the award it does say it expires one year from the date. I already selected mine so I can’t bring it up and post perhaps someone can

It mentions the 1 year expiration AFTER you select it but nothing before making choice. I still have my 2022 platinum pro award unselected and there is nothing that says 1 expiration expiration.

Prior to selection the terms do state "Travel must be completed and the discount requested before the expiration date." So while it doesn't specifically state a one year validity prior to selection, the fact it mentions there is an expiration date clearly indicates the award discount has some finite shelf life. In fairness, AA should state the exact validity prior to selection but expecting it to be valid in perpetuity isn't a reasonable position either.
