I went for the 25k miles for PP and am debating between points x 2 or the AA club membership for my EXP. I think I'm still going to go miles. Just more valuable overall and I don't have use for long haul SWUs.

Anyone know how partner flights with 0% LP earning count towards the “eligible flight segment“ requirement? Assessing whether it makes sense to push for the Rewards as an international EXP, and thinking segment runs within Malaysia may be more than its worth.
Cathay, Malaysia, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan all have Economy tiers which earn 0 LPs. Pushing to the next level of (LP-eligible) fare basis codes seems like it would cost at least $2,000 (vs <$500 at the lowest FBCs); 60,000 points are worth less than that, and I rarely used SWUs previously given my travel is mostly outside the US.

I'll likely still choose SWUs when I hit the segment threshold next month. Because they're still the most valuable offering in my eyes. Although I lost 1 due to AA's phone issues on July 31st, I was able to use 5 of the 6 I had by being somewhat flexible with dates and destinations. The mile option, on the other hand, seems rather pointless. ~25k miles will no longer cover many domestic roundtrips, and I'm already earning so many more miles than I used to with the LP setup that an extra 5-10% isn't going to make any substantive difference.

Also, I did not see this question or thread anywhere, but provide someone the "Gift of AAdvantage Gold® status" how does the timing work? is it 365 days from activation or gift, or is it like the status challenges where they get it for the remainder of the year (after June) plus the next year (to requalify)?

If you have an AA branded credit card, you actually get 30,000 miles. That's not that bad of a deal. Depending on how you redeem your miles, that could be worth $600 or $700 in value.

So for my clarification:
Once I hit 125K and 30 segments, I can choose 20k points (+5k for AA credit card)
When I hit 200k, I get 2 new choices, IN ADDITION TO my already-earned choice granted at 125K?

It would be really nice if we could use 2 x SWU to go from Y all the way to F on a 3 class 321T. Two AA reps I talked to though said this wasn't possible-- no upgrades or instruments from J to F -- just cash. If I could use 2 SWUs to go all the way to F, I'd definitely pick 4 of them over the miles.

However I couldn't find any verbiage on AA website stating such.
I am debating between 25k points or the 15% award discount. I don't see anything that states that 15% off award discount expires. Has anyone chosen this option that can confirm?
166K point redemption seems to be the break even for that 15% discount. But if you could snag a 300k+ trip like Qatar or JAL first class for 2 then that'd be totally worth it.

800k LPs already this year and only 7 segments. There is no way I hit 30 segments, so all the choice rewards will be wasted. In fact, have never had more than 20 segments in one year in all my flying with AA. Some years I only had 10, even while requalifying for CK. The 30 segments is a real thumb in the eye.

I was about to ask this same question, and found the answer! Looks like with a bit of creative work, I will hit the 200k LPs for this "year". Doubt that will happen next year...

I gather from the discussion so far there's some inconsistency in whether OW marketed and operated flights are correctly applied. Are there any recent DPs of B6 marketed and operated flights counting towards the 30 segment requirement (as long as they're credited to AA)? My intuition tells me they should, but I can't find it in the T&Cs anywhere.
