6 hours in an A319
I may be having to do a Bogota-JFK one way. Totally perplexed. Why in the world would AA fly an A319 on this route? I've never been on an A319 for longer than 1000 miles. What is its range? Is this even safe lol
Anyone done this flight? Is it miserable? Just down some drinks in the lounge, take a pill or 2 and hope sleeping in recliner F seats is possible?
Do you get the blanket & pillow like BOG-MIA, 2.5 hours shorter, gets? Just dont think of an A319 flying long haul.
Whats AA's logic throwing this plane on this route? Even if not a 772 like Miami why not something a little more comfortable?

I’ve done DFW to Bogota in the same plane. It’s definitely miserable and on the way back (to Dallas as least) it’s a red eye. Such a crappy plane even from AA’s biggest hub and it wasn’t cheap either

There's nothing "more comfortable" than an A319 short of an A321T, which is decidedly too premium for this route, or a widebody 777 and 787, which 1) AA has a shortage of, and 2) is very likely overcapacity for this route.

Airbus aircraft are wider than the Boeing 737 series aircraft. You also get more pitch on the A319 than on the 737 or refurbished A321s. I would be happy to be on that AC over other narrowbody alternatives. Take row 14 if available!

I find the A319 F seats to be more comfortable than the 737 and oasis 321. If I'm paying for first, I seek out the A319. If I'm fishing for an upgrade, I avoid it because it's so difficult to get moved up front. As stated above, the only aircraft that would be more comfortable in first would be a wide body, and I'm guessing there's not enough demand for that right now. I prefer the second row so I can have under seat storage, but the bulkheads not terrible as far as bulkheads are concerned.

A few years ago DFW-UIO was running on an A319.
Didn't feel like using a SWU was worth it and had the exit row to myself.
Even with that it was a long ride on that plane. Probably wouldn't do it again TBH.
Although, the only time I really started to "loose it" on a plane was on a UA Express E145 from EWR to XNA. 3 hours on that plane is just too long.

As mentioned above, any main line plane without beds is pretty much equal in this situation. Agree that it is very uncomfortable but it's not unusual. In these cases I'd rather have a connection and stretch my legs midway. Recently flew TPA to SEA and chose connections both ways rather than enduring 6 hours in a recliner seat.

Not sure what the issue is IMO...JFK-BOG has a shorter block time than most transcons due to the lack of headwinds. JFK-BOG is well within the A319s range...
JFK-BOG operates with a L-AA A319 equipped with in-seat entertainment, so frankly it isn't that bad of a ride. Y gets a blanket + pillow, and J gets the day blanket + lumbar pillow. Both flights feature a meal service, although due to the lack of ovens in the back, Y only gets a cold meal.

Say what you want about AA, but you can be assured that they don’t fly aircraft models that don’t have the safe range plus safety margin for the routes they’re assigned to.

Its 2480 miles which is well within the range of the A319. AA and US used to fly 2400+ mile segments all the time (PHL-LAX, PHL-SFO). IIRC at one point SEA-MIA was an A319.
For comparison in the narrowbody market, Avianca also uses an A319. JetBlue uses an A320.
